1998 was Scott’s second full year of racing. He joined the Heavyweight Screaming Demons again. His Dad built a 1987 IROC Camaro and everybody learned a lot. Scott did not want another yellow car. So, this year the #16 car was Red, White and Blue. Opening day Scott started off on the right foot.
He got the best looking car thanks to Danny Taylor. Danny is one of the local guys here in Fayette who runs his own body shop. Danny paints Scott’s car every year.
Thank you Danny from the Kings!

Scott won one feature race in 1998, eleven trophies and July Driver of the Month at Wiscasset.

The last race of the year a friend, Larry Dipietro, gave up racing. Larry owned a Pro Stock Car. He asked Scott if he wanted to give it a try. The only race left was a NEPSA 150 lap race. Scott and his Dad didn’t have to talk much. They wanted to try it! Scott tried the car out in the morning of the big race. After about fifteen laps Scott had the car up to Pro Stock Speed (of course he was out there all by his self). He qualified for the big race, he was in! Scott went in with the “big boys” and was holding his own Racing and Racing Hard. He completed only about twent-six laps, he was on the inside and a car on the outside had a flat tire and took him out (that was you Scott Moore). With racing that is the way it goes. But, Scott loved it. He loved the power and the high speeds compared to his little Camaro.
This in Scott’s view was one of the best things to ever happen to him.
Many thanks to Larry and Janet Dipietro from the King Family!
In July of 1998 Scott made his first trip to Oxford Plains Speedway. He liked the track at Oxford very much.
